Communicating about Mining Risks and Sustainability

Through various avenues, I’ve been starting to engage folks outside of mining. Improving our communications is something I’ve believed in for a long time, and it is something that all of us from within the industry should each be doing, as we are able. I’ll be doing my part starting in this new year and I hope you’ll join me.

Our industry has long been viewed as unsustainable, and sometimes outright awful. My hope is to educate non-mining folks on the need for mining, the benefits we bring to mining-local communities, regions and the world, and also a few things we are doing, such as areas we are making improvements (and what has changed for some time). Perhaps raising this awareness in different ways will encourage a few of our next generation to see us in another light, and they’ll choose to join us in solving some of our residual, more difficult challenges. Even the youngest are listening!

Anyways, I thought it would be fun to share a short interview I did to practice such communications before I take my voice to a larger audience (a podcast interview coming in late January!)

Let me know what you think, and if you’re interested in doing an interview or recorded dialogue about mining, risks & sustainability, contact me! I’d be happy to discuss a topic with you so that it can be shared more broadly!
